Les carrières gallo-romaines de Rezé (Loire-Atlantique)

Abstract : About twelve quarries of micaschist, gneiss and pegmatitic granite were found in the ancient small town of Rezé. These small quarries, located in the La Bourderie and Saint-Lupien districts, were exploited in the 1st century AD. The study of quarrying processes reveals that wedges were widely used – one may notably have been discovered on the Saint-Lupien site.
