Le « sens marin » : comment devient-on marin-pêcheur ?

Abstract : The acquisition of knowledge in a work situation is one of the conditions to access fisherman profession since the diploma, which is mandatory, must be certified by an imperative time of boarding into the function. The interlocking between professional socialisation and recruitment process is particularly visible when it comes to the learning of the profession through apprenticeship. Based on the accounts of seaman apprenticeships and former seamen who left the profession, this article reports on the process for obtaining a position within the crew. The article shows two stages of the professional socialisation: the learning of the temporality of the activity and the achievement of enabling tasks.
